Staying Seen: Being Bi in Relationships with Straight People

When you identify as queer but enter into relationships with heterosexual people, or those with of a different gender to your own, it can feel odd to consolidate these two parts of your identity. You’re not straight, but society can perceive you that way – where do you fit in, exactly?

Why Bisexual and Pansexual Parents Struggle To Find Community

Bisexual and pansexual people often face distinctive challenges. They may have the burden of repeatedly having to come out, if they’re in a mixed-sex relationship; feeling guilty if their current relationship or appearance means they benefit from the privileges of being straight-passing; and facing stereotypes about their sexual orientation being a phase. Invisibility is the issue that comes up most in studies. “That translates into a lack of access to community-specific parenting supports,” These supports are needed.

Bisexual Vs Pansexual? What's The Difference?

Is there anything wrong with using one over the other?
No! Not at all!!
Just remember that you preferring one term doesn’t make the other one bad, and don’t assume that everyone who uses that term means it in a bad way. Not everyone who is bisexual is clueless about non-binary things, and not everyone who is pansexual believes in being “gender blind”. If you're defining your identity as how it's better than someone else's, you can really hurt people. They're both legitimate identities, and there's plenty of good reasons to use either term for yourself.

Bi (In)visibility: A REFLECTION ON IDENTITIES OUTSIDE THE BINARY

Sexuality truly is fluid, and some people may identify as bisexual, then gay, or any number of other labels along their personal journey, bisexuality is still a legitimate sexuality that many people identify as throughout their lives.

All Bi Myself: the Strange Invisibility of Bisexuality

How do you make bisexuality and pansexuality more visible in our society?
There are at least as many bi and pansexual people in the world as lesbians and gay men combined, at least according to surveys of western countries. But bisexuality is poorly understood – leaving bi and pansexual people feeling that their sexuality is invisible or invalid.

Why Is “Bisexual” Such A Charged Word In 2019?

Language is fluid and changes to reflect our growth as people and as a society. It should both serve to unify and clarify.
Words should be functional and expressive, and so in the spirit of bisexuality, let’s use language to do both.
