What’s Happening!
Currently our regular GSA is temporarily postponed, due to the outbreak of Covid 19, and the recommendations of all levels of our governments. We do not take the decision to postpone even one meeting of a Safe Space lightly, and we are working hard to try and find safe ways for everyone to connect while maintaining all levels of health and safety standards.
Pop up GSAs! - These dates change weekly!
“Pop up GSAs” will run weekly during the days & evenings in 1-2 hours! (weather permitting) We will be going for walks and meeting outside.
Everyone including the Adults in our GSA will need to ensure we are healthy!
We absolutely still have to do physical distancing & hand sanitizing.

But this is a way for us to begin to reconnect!
We had to say goodbye to pieces of our float on Saturday. It was a sad day for me, and my own kids and I know that this is going to be hard on our GSA kiddos as well...
Earlier this month we were faced with the difficult decision of having to pay for storage for the pieces of our float. We are 100% volunteer run non-profit organization and we rely on donations or bottle drives. We don’t have sponsors, we are not funded by a City or other organization. Paying the additional cost of storage each month, for a float we use once a year would be extremely difficult ...
We were generously approached by two parties offering free storage space for our float pieces. One person locally and one person an hour’s commute.
In the end it came down to what happens when we have to physically move the float again each year. We would have to find a truck and trailer, in addition to decorations, equipment for music, and candy. These are costs I just cannot afford right now.
I have kept our rainbow with the clouds. Our kids painted it and I would like to find a place to have it situated locally!
I am so proud of what our kids have accomplished together so far!
Events
Spruce Grove GSA Car Pride Parade2020!!!
One of our younger GSA kiddos had the idea of holding a car Pride Parade in Spruce Grove!
We are requesting folks to “dress their cars” in balloons, ribbons, Pride flags, rainbows, signs of love, support, diversity, and equality.
*Everything should be tied on, not taped so as to lessen any clean up and keep our environmental impact down. There will also be nothing thrown from the vehicle windows (ie candy, balloons or prizes), due to health & safety restrictions.
I invite you to enter a vehicle in our Pride Parade. This will show our community and our youth how inclusive Spruce Grove is.
Please confirm your registration by the Facebook event or confirm with Spruce Grove GSA!https://www.facebook.com/events/270674410975792/?active_tab=about
The Pride Parade will be leaving SGCHS June 13 at 1:00pm – You are welcome to show up early and decorate.
  • §  We will leave from Spruce Grove Composite High School,
exiting from the north (back parking lot entrance)
  • §  Please remain in the Right-Hand lane and try to maintain a respectful speed of 30-40 km/hr.
This way we will not disrupt the flow of traffic.
  • §  Turn South (right) at King street.
    Follow that along to McLeod.
  • §  Head west (right) through the downtown core along McLeod.
  • §  Turn North (right) onto Jennifer Heil Way.
  • §  Then finish the loop by turning East (right) onto Grove drive, ending up back at Spruce Grove Composite
High School where you can dismantle your Pride decorations in safety!
Please ensure to maintain proper social distancing guidelines as stated by our governments while decorating vehicles, cleaning up, OR if you see us on our route!!
Please wave, cheer, and honk as we celebrate our socially distant PRIDE in SPRUCE GROVE for 2020!!!

We have been reaching out to local businesses for prizes and donations, and we are hoping that they will also enter vehicles! There will be prizes given for the “best dressed vehicles!”
Please see all of our attached Rules for the Car Pride Parade or visit our Facebook event Page!

    Happy Pride 2020!!!
