Our Spruce Grove GSA usually participates in the Stony Plain Rotary Parade with our GSA kids.

Due to the social distancing factors brought on by Covid-19, this will not be possible for 2020.

One of our younger GSA kiddos had the idea of holding a car Pride Parade in Spruce Grove!
We are requesting folks to “dress their cars” in balloons, ribbons, Pride flags, rainbows, signs of love, support, diversity, and equality.
*Everything should be tied on, not taped so as to lessen any clean up and keep our environmental impact down. There will also be nothing thrown from the vehicle windows (ie candy, balloons or prizes), due to health restrictions.

I also invite you to enter a vehicle in our Pride Parade. This will show our community and our youth how inclusive Spruce Grove is.

The Pride Parade is set for June 13 at 1:00pm – You are welcome to show up early and decorate your vehicle.
We will leave from Spruce Grove Composite High School, exiting from the north (back parking lot entrance)
Please remain in the Right - Hand lane and try to maintain a respectful speed of 30-40 km/hr. This way we will not disrupt the flow of traffic. Turn South (right) at King street.
Follow that along to McLeod.
Head west (right) through the downtown core along McLeod.
Turn North (right) onto Jennifer Heil Way.
Then finish the loop by turning East (right) onto Grove drive, ending up back at Spruce Grove Composite High School where you can dismantle your Pride decorations in safety!

Please ensure to maintain proper social distancing guidelines as stated by our governments while decorating vehicles, cleaning up, OR if you see us on our route!!
Please wave, cheer, and honk as we celebrate our socially distant PRIDE in SPRUCE GROVE for 2020!!!

We will be reaching out to local businesses for prizes and donations, and we are hoping that they will also enter vehicles! There will be prizes given for the “best dressed vehicle!”

Happy Pride 2020!!!

Car Pride Parade Rules and regulations:

We are planning a Car Pride Parade which I am inviting businesses and community members to participate in.

  • All Drivers must have a valid driver’s licence

  • All vehicles must remain in the “parade” line. Drive in the right-hand lane at 30-40 km/hr. Do not impede the flow of traffic. Obey rules of the road. Do not pass in the “parade” route.

  • It will be non-partisan with no political affiliations. Any vehicle that arrives displaying this will immediately be removed.

  • Vehicle decorations must not be discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic, show any negative opinions of political parties or breach any defamation law.

  • Vehicles that arrive displaying any of these will immediately be removed.

  • All vehicles should be decorated in some way for Pride month (Think colourful! Balloons, messages of inclusion, equality, love)!

  • Absolutely no candy or other giveaways are to be THROWN from the vehicles or handed out on the sidelines.

  • If you are interested in driving a car in the parade as a community member or business, please let me know as soon as possible!
